Embrace the Possibilities of Assistive Technology

At Peak Rehabilitation, we are dedicated to helping individuals explore the possibilities of assistive technology and discover solutions that enhance daily life.

Assistive technology includes any device, equipment, or technology that supports people with disabilities in performing everyday activities with greater ease and independence.

Our process begins with a comprehensive assessment of your physical abilities, functional requirements, and daily routines. Based on this evaluation, we recommend and trial suitable equipment to ensure it meets your specific needs.

We also provide guidance through funding applications, offer customisation and adjustments, and deliver training to ensure you can use your equipment safely and effectively.

How do assistive technology assessments work?

Assistive technology can enhance your independOur experienced Occupational Therapists will come to your home, community, or workplace to collaborate with you in pinpointing the assistive technology that aligns with your lifestyle and the specific location where you require it. During your assistive technology assessment, the following considerations will be taken into account:

  • Identifying challenges you may currently face.
  • Identifying tasks you enjoy but find difficult to complete.
  • Assessing any physical obstacles in your environment that can be modified.
  • Exploring the potential integration of assistive technology, such as voice-activated systems, to enhance usability.
  • Evaluating the feasibility of portable technology solutions, like Smart Watches, to support you when you’re on the go.
  • Examining safety enhancements that can be implemented to create a secure environment.
  • Assessing how the chosen item will seamlessly fit into your daily life.

After assessing your needs, your Occupational Therapist will arrange for a trial of the available assistive technology solutions. This ensures that the chosen item is suitable for your environment, allows for necessary modifications, and ensures it can achieve the desired functional outcomes.

How quick is it to access assistive technology?

Once the assistive technology (AT) assessment and trials have concluded, the Occupational Therapist will offer a timeline for the expected delivery of the AT item. The timing can vary based on the nature of the items, the approval process involved, and the speed of procurement.

Certain AT products, particularly those considered high risk or high cost, may necessitate comprehensive reporting and analysis for approval. Conversely, smaller, low-cost items like smartwatches or shower chairs may receive funding immediatly. You can trust that our Occupational Therapists will guide clients throughout the entire process, including training on the proper setup to ensure correct utilisation of the AT item

How much does an assistive technology assessment cost?

Costs can differ depending on the client’s needs and the complexity of their situation. Our team will discuss your specific requirements, allowing us to determine a customised cost estimate that aligns with your individual circumstances.
